The link-in-bio page: what to put on it and what to leave out

On social networks you usually get room for a single link. A link-in-bio page solves that: one address, in your profile or on a poster, that leads to a page with all the links that matter. With Li-Nk you create it from the dashboard, under “Link-in-bio”, pick one of the themes and add your links and social networks.

One main action

The page is usually visited from a phone, for a few seconds. If you put twelve equal links, people do not know which one to tap. Decide what you want most of the people who land there to do (book, buy, subscribe) and put that link first, more prominent than the others.

Labels that say what you will find

“Website” and “Click here” say nothing. “Book a table”, “Request a quote”, “See today’s menu” do. A label should answer the question “what do I get if I tap?”.

How many links

As a rule, five to seven links are enough. What is no longer current (a finished promotion, a past event) comes off; a page with dead links loses trust faster than a short one.

See what works

Each link on the page has its own statistics, so you see not only how many people opened the page but also what they tapped. After a month, the order can change based on data, not intuition: what most people tap moves up, what nobody taps goes away.

On your own domain

If you have your own domain in Li-Nk, you can show the bio page right on its root, so that “go.company.com” leads straight to it.

Tip: Check the page on a phone, not just on a computer, and on a weak connection. If it loads slowly or looks bad, people will not get as far as the links.
